If an agent gives you a quote without asking medical questions or if you were to get a quote online, it won’t be accurate. They’re really not going to know what your medical situation is. Without that information, you won’t get a proper quote or the right kind of coverage. So, firstly, make sure you’re dealing with somebody that’s asking questions about your medical history. They should be asking about your health, whether you use tobacco, etc.
#2 – Why Do You Need Life Insurance?
Secondly, your agent should ask you what you want the life insurance to cover when you’re gone. Reasons to get life insurance include paying off your mortgage, paying off your car, leaving money behind for your family. Ultimately, knowing why you need life insurance helps determine how much coverage is right for you.
#3 – What’s the Right Type of Insurance for You?
Next, you need to determine what the right type of coverage is for you whether it’s term or permanent. Term insurance is covered for a specific period time like five years, ten years, fifteen years. As for permanent insurance, it can be there for your entire life no matter how long you live.
If your agent doesn’t address these three types of questions, that’s a red flag. Rather than forcing you into something just to generate a commission, they should be asking you these questions to help you get the right life insurance for the right amount of coverage.
