Tip #1 – Do Some Research
People interested in buying life insurance should do some research first. Go on the internet and read a little bit about life insurance. Understand the reasons why people have life insurance. Find out about the different types of life insurance. Know what’s available. If you have a foundational knowledge about life insurance, you’ll be better equipped to find the right insurance for you.
Tip #2 – Meet with an Agent
Then after some preliminary research, contact a local licensed agent. When you meet with an agent, tell them about some of your research and ask them if you think life insurance would be beneficial for you. Next, have them explain the different types of life insurance. Ask them if term or permanent insurance is a better fit for you.
Tip #3 – Ask Some Questions
Again, it’s better to be a little informed about your options so that way you know what kind of questions to ask when you’re with the agent. If you ask the right questions, then it’s less likely an agent will try to sell you something that you may or may not need. Some questions to ask are:
- Why should I have life insurance?
- How much insurance should I have depending on what my needs are?
- What type of insurance – term, permanent, universal – is right for me?
- What different products are available?
